AuthorRank FAQ

Common questions from Shopify merchants improving author bios, blog schema, and author attribution.

Is AuthorRank available on the Shopify App Store?

Yes. AuthorRank launched on the Shopify App Store on July 7, 2026 and is listed as Author Schema Blog Bios | SEO in the SEO category. You can install it on your store here.

What does AuthorRank do?

AuthorRank helps Shopify stores add visible author bios, author profile details, optional schema output, custom expert authors, post ownership reassignment, and author performance analytics to blog posts.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Growth is the only plan. It includes a 7-day free trial, then Shopify bills $19.99/month every 30 days unless the subscription is canceled before the trial ends.

How do I cancel Growth?

Open the app's Pricing page and choose Cancel Growth. This stops future Shopify Billing for AuthorRank and keeps the app installed with limited setup access. Uninstalling the app also stops future Shopify app billing cycles.

Why do Shopify blogs need author bios?

Many Shopify articles show only a basic staff name. A complete author bio gives readers more context about who wrote the article and why that person is credible.

What is Person schema?

Person schema is JSON-LD structured data that describes an author as a person, including name, title, image, URL, and profile links when provided. It helps systems understand author identity more clearly.

What is Article schema?

Article schema is JSON-LD structured data that describes an article, including headline, published date, modified date, publisher, and author. AuthorRank gives merchants manual control over whether to enable it.

Does schema guarantee higher rankings?

No. Schema can make content easier to understand, but it does not guarantee rankings, clicks, rich results, or AI Overview visibility. AuthorRank is an attribution and structured data tool, not a ranking guarantee.

Does AuthorRank add JavaScript to my storefront?

The storefront bio and schema output are designed to work through Shopify theme app extension blocks and Liquid output. The goal is low storefront impact without external JavaScript for the widget.

What does Growth include?

Growth includes visible author bio display, unlimited author optimizations, Person schema controls, AI-assisted bio drafting, custom expert authors, public display-name changes, bulk post ownership transfer, and GEO readiness scoring.

What does AuthorRank work with?

Shopify Admin and Shopify theme app extension blocks. Storefront output runs through theme app extension blocks, and Growth powers author profile readiness scoring inside the app.

Can I create authors who are not Shopify staff users?

Yes, with Growth. Custom expert authors let you create public author profiles outside your Shopify staff list and assign them to any blog post.

Can I rename a Shopify staff author publicly?

Yes, with Growth. The app can use a custom public display name while preserving the original Shopify staff author reference for internal clarity.

Can I bulk assign one author to a blog category?

Growth includes bulk ownership tools so a merchant can set one author for a group of posts and undo supported bulk actions when needed.

Will AuthorRank work if I already use an SEO app?

Yes, but merchants should choose schema settings carefully. If another app or theme already outputs Article schema, you can enable only the schema types you want AuthorRank to add.

What happens if I uninstall?

AuthorRank receives Shopify uninstall and compliance webhooks and removes shop-specific app data according to its deletion flow. Storefront app blocks should stop rendering once the app is removed.

Does AuthorRank modify blog content?

AuthorRank stores author profile data and post ownership metadata. It does not need to rewrite the body content of your blog posts to display author bios.

What if my store has no blog posts?

The app should show an empty state and setup guidance. Author profiles and schema output become useful once you have Shopify blog posts to optimize.

How fast can support respond?

Support requests are reviewed by email. Most non-urgent requests should receive a response within a couple business days.

Where do I get help?

Email matthewghosid@gmail.com with your store domain, the page URL, and a short description of what you expected to happen.
